Step 1
Report the loss of your passport to the local police station of the public security sub-bureau

Step 2
Apply for the Lost Passport Certificate from the local exit/entry administration of the public security sub-bureau
Required materials:
- Three 2-inch bareheaded color photos, 3.5 cm (width) × 4.9 cm (height)
- Proof of identity (scanned copy/photocopy of passport, ID card from your home country, driver’s license, student ID card, etc.)
- A receipt showing that your passport loss has been reported
- Fill out the exit/entry certificate loss form for foreign nationals
In case your underage child loses their passport:
In addition to the above documents, a proof of parent-child relationship is needed.

Step 3
Contact the embassy of your home country to apply for a new passport or temporary travel document

Passport Loss Certificate and any other materials required by the embassy

Apply for a replacement visa at a local exit/entry administration service center for foreign nationals
Required materials:
- The original Passport Loss Certificate or Verbal Note from the embassy or local consulate of your home country
- New passport or other international travel document
- Valid registration of your accommodation in Beijing
- One recent 2-inch bareheaded color photo with a white background, 3.5 cm (width) × 4.9 cm (height)

Turn to the Government Service section, and choose “Start Application” - “Exit/Entry Business” - “3. Visa, Stay Permit or Residence Permit”.
